Return To Blackpool
On a follow-up visit to Thornton & Cleveleys Lodge 3854, West Lancs, on 18 October 2013, W.Bro Bill Beedie of Innsworth Lodge 8751 presented the W.M. with a framed Innsworth Lodge Badge to mark the occasion. Seven Brethren of Innsworth Lodge journeyed to Blackpool to repeat the fraternal visit of last October, and enjoyed an immaculate 1st Degree ceremony followed by a most entertaining Festive Board in the Thornton & Ceveleys Masonic Hall. Those making the journey were W.Bros Brian Ashworth, Bill Beedie, Ron Brooke, Bob Coombes, John Lewis and Tom Robson, and Bro Chris Paisley. Once again, Bro Mark Tomlinson co-ordinated the Blackpool end.
Bacon Butties
No chance this year to enjoy the seaside delights of ice creams and rock! The traditional English rain forced the travellers to enjoy bacon butties in the excellent hotel accommodation, while they put the world to right. After the last visit, one of the party had submitted a report to “Trip Advisor” and the hotel now includes the comments in its brochure: “The welcome from the efficient and friendly staff was outstanding and the superb breakfasts were unbelievable. Thoroughly recommended.”
Pumpkin, Whiskey and “Fire”
The Innsworth Lodge Charity Steward contributed a pumpkin and some pumpkin beers as a prize in the “Chorley Auction” at the Festive Board, and was delighted to win a bottle of whiskey in return. W.Bro Brian Ashworth replied to the Visitors’ Toast and called upon Innsworth Lodge Brethren to repeat the “masonic fire” demonstrated in 2012, which was still foreign to West Lancs ears.
The Innsworth Lodge Brethren were delighted with the welcome and genuine friendship received “up North”, and returned home determined to keep the mutual hospitality arrangement alive. They also returned with a personal Thornton & Cleveleys mousemat – gifted by the WM.
